How To Repair BMW Oil Cooler Line
BMW Oil Cooler Line Repair
Vehicle is a BMW 5 series E60 535xi, one of oil cooler lines failed, sending oil all over engine bay.
Instead of buying a new one (expensive), old oil cooler line was repaired. Repair was done by Nitroindustrial.com, on Jane Street just north of Langstaff. This is in Toronto but every major city should have similar facilities. Repair cost was at a fraction of price for a new line, with a sturdier high pressure hose.
Fittings were cut and welded to a new flexible metallic hose, very precise job and will probably outlast the car itself.
Removal is pretty much straightforward. Oil cooler line has two 6mm Allen bolts, one bolt is located on oil cooler housing. See red arrow image below.
Another oil cooler bolt is located close to radiator. Both bolts are easily accessible and can be removed with little effort.
