How to Change Hyundai Elantra Abs Sensor: Changing right front abs sensor fixed this problem. 2014 Hyundai Elantra Gls, automatic transmission. Sensor costs about $100 or so depending where you buy it and is available at most auto parts stores.
Removal and installation should take about an hour and will require a 10mm and 12mm socket/ratchet, flat and Phillips screwdriver.
Front right wheel has to be removed. Lift your used car and support it on jack stands. Do not work on vehicle supported only by a standard vehicle jack. Have parking brake engaged.
Abs sensor is secured in place with a 10mm bolt. Remove bolt and pull abs sensor out.
Sensor might be seized, use a flat screwdriver to slowly remove it. Next, remove 12mm bolt securing sensor wire to strut mount and 10mm bolt in chassis (image below).
Wheel well lining has to be removed to change Hyundai Elantra Abs sensor. Abs sensor plug is located underneath wheel lining on top part of fender.
Hyundai Abs Sensor Removal
Remove well lining’s bottom Phillips screws (three screws) and top plastic clips. Pull wheel liming aside towards the front of vehicle. Do not completely remove wheel lining, only rear part of it where abs sensor is located.
Unplug Hyundai Elantra abs sensor electrical connection by pressing on connector tab (image below, red arrow).
Hyundai Elantra Abs Sensor Installation
Installation is just reversal of removal, start from top and plug new abs sensor electrical connection, install wheel well lining and proceed to install all screws and bolts.
Push new abs sensor in place and install 10mm bolt, do not over tighten. Install front wheel. Abs light should go out by itself (might require a short drive), no need to remove codes with a scanner.
