How to Change Dodge Key Fob Battery / Chrysler Key Fob Battery
A weak or dead battery will cause your key fob to work intermittently or stop working altogether.
Only a small flat screwdriver is needed to replace battery on a Dodge/Chrysler key fob. Key fob shown below comes from a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. However, this design is used in a wide variety of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles and models.
Batteries for Dodge/Chrysler key fobs are 3 volts CR 2032. Battery is generic and is sold almost everywhere.
Dismantling of Dodge/Chrysler KeyFob
Key fob housing halves are held together by push in clips. Start by removing blade key from key fob housing, push release tab located on the back of key fob and pull blade key out.
Place flat screwdriver between two halves on top part of key fob and pry
it open, work your way all around until key fob unit opens.
Remove Dodge key fob old battery and change it with a new one. Make sure new battery orientation (polarity) is same as old one. After installing new battery, align key fob cases together and press them together until completely closed. You will hear key fob housing clips clicking when fully closed.
How to Change Dodge/Chrysler Key Fob Battery: Insert key blade back in and press any button to verify units works. It should work normally away after battery change, there is no need for reprogramming.
