Spark Plugs Installation Kia Sorento
Installation: Apply grease or anti seize compound on new spark plug threads. For initial spark plug installation use only spark plug socket and extension, do not use a ratchet or force. Installing spark plugs using a ratchet or a lever might cause damage to engine head spark plug threads if spark plug are not threaded straight.
Place a new spark plug on 16mm spark plug socket and slowly thread spark plug on engine head until you reach bottom, by hand only. Do the same on other spark plugs.
Use ratchet to tighten spark plugs, after hand installation. Do not over tighten, spark plugs have a crush washer gasket, it takes about ½ to ¾ turn to fully tighten a spark plug with a ratchet after hand tightening.
Place ignition coils on spark plug opening and push them in. Install ignition coil 10mm bolts.
Plug ignition coil electrical connectors and press in connector grey safety tab.
Start engine and leave it running for a minute or so to make sure everything is fine. Install engine plastic cover.
