How To Repair Jaguar XK8 ABS Module
Vehicle is displaying message “ASC Tracks Not Available”. It was intermittent for a while which latter became a regular problem.
Problem is almost always ABS control module. Abs module is located on driver’s side of engine bay, bolted on Abs pump. Repair is relatively easy and is performed on a 2001 Jaguar XK8.
(Costs about few hundred dollars to send abs module repaired professionally. If you are in Toronto, (Xemodex.ca) can repair it without any need of programming afterwards).
It took less than 2 hours in total to fix jaguar Abs module, including removal and installation. Unit worked normally again once the repair was done and “ABS Tracks Not Available” message disappeared.
How to Remove XK8 ABS Module
Disconnect 2 center brake lines in the middle (Red arrows), and bend them a bit on outwards. Air will not get in the system and bleeding is not be needed afterwards.
There are four E5 Torx bolts (Blue Arrows) holding control unit in place. You need an E5 Torx socket to finish this job, most auto parts stores have it. Remove all bolts (blue arrows) and slide jaguar abs module unit out. Two brake lines need to be bent a bit outwards to make space for removing Abs control unit.

Once abs unit is out, tape a piece of cardboard on top of electrical modules so they don’t move or damage them while “operating” on the module. A hole has to made on bottom right of the module to allow soldering of broken contacts.
A drill can used, careful not to go to deep and damage the circuit inside.
Here is the problem: there are two electrical connections which get lose by vibrations over time and have to be re-soldered. Solder both contacts. Solder contacts even if you dont see any problems. Contact might have very small cracks not visible to naked eye.
How to Repair Jaguar ABS Module
After soldering contacts, seal abs module again. Use the same piece you cut off and some tape. Seal it with silicone and should be fine. Doesn’t really have to look pretty as long as is sealed properly.
Installation is reversal of removal. You dont have to do anything special, just be careful and line up unit pins when installing it. ABS module worked fine after re-soldering contacts.
