How to Reset Engine Oil Life Jeep Patriot: Jeep Patriot if equipped with oil life monitoring system. When time comes for an oil change, “Oil Change” reminder will be triggered in dashboard every time you start your car. After an oil change service you should reset oil change monitor.
Oil change monitor or reminder can not be reset using an ODB2 tool, Jeep Patriot does not does not support that function under maintenance section. Instead, oil change remainder should be reset manually. Procedure below is the same for 2014 to 2017 Jeep Patriot.
Oil monitor on Jeep Patriot does not monitor oil quality, oil level or oil condition. Its just an oil change remainder, based on mileage.

Reset Oil Change Warning Jeep Patriot
- Sit on drivers seat and close the door.
- Insert key in ignition and turn it to accessories, second position. You should see dashboard lights coming on. Do not start the car.
- Within 10 seconds push accelerator pedal slowly all the way down three times.
- Turn ignition off.
- Start the car to confirm oil reset is successful
- If “oil change” remainder is still there, repeat procedure again from beginning.
As we said earlier “Oil change” remainder is only a remainder based on mileage and does not monitor oil quality. Do not rely solely on oil reminder, refer to owners manual for oil change intervals and keep track of mileage yourself too. More details here on Oil Change Intervals.
